The "Ronen Foundation" was founded in loving memory of my late son Ronen Israeli, who passed away in 1992, at the age of 24.

Ronen was an enthusiastic listener of classical music, admiring especially the opera. He did not practice as a musician but spent endless hours enjoying his large and rare collection of classical music CDs and videos.

Ronen also often went to the opera or concert house, allowing me to be his partner on these occasions, and introducing me to every piece of music we were about to enjoy together.

This deep love for classical music and the special connection we shared, led to the creation of the foundation, with the mission of contributing to the development of young Israeli artists, who are dedicated to classical music and to the world of the opera.

The activities of the “Ronen Foundation” started in 1993, as an intimate family run endeavor, and after only four years, thanks to the commitment and sincere efforts of our family friends and many volunteers, it has grown into a non-profit organization.

In 2007, the “Ronen Foundation of America" was established, with the intention of broadening the scope of the activities beyond Israel.

Love and devotion to the young, gifted artists are the main ingredients in promoting them to excellence and success.

However, being effective requires us to put our money where our heart is.

We therefore grant financial aid, mainly through scholarships, to be used at the discretion of the artists, be it music lessons and tuition, both in Israel and abroad,  purchase of musical instruments or studio rental costs, to travel and wardrobe expenses…whatever makes them happy in achieving their musical goals.

Another avenue of activity is by creating opportunities for the artists to gain experience, confidence and exposure through concerts. We encourage the artists to volunteer activity and pro bono performances, but we also take great pride in the productions of the foundation - yearly gala concerts both in Tel Aviv and in New York, numerous chamber performances in smaller venues as well as intimate duets and solos in private homes of the classical music lovers we are proud to have as supporters of the foundation’s mission.

Other opportunities of exposure are achieved through networking and the personal introduction of the artists we support to prominent professionals in the classical music industry, as well as to foundation alumni who have already made themselves a name in their field.

The "Ronen Foundation" also holds long-standing cooperation with some of Israel’s leading musical institutions, to the benefit of the artists supported by the foundation: Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, The "Buchmann-Mehta" School of Music at the Tel Aviv University, the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and Meitar Opera Studio, the young artists program of the Israeli Opera.
