Mezzo-soprano Shachar Lavi, graduated at the Buchmann- Mehta Music Academy in Tel Aviv University (with hons). Shachar was a member of "Meitar" Opera studio of the Israeli Opera and a member of Heidelberg Opera ensemble seasons 2017-2019. Currently Shachar is a member of the National Theater Mannheim opera ensemble.
In the upcoming season of 2020-21 Shachar will be making several role debuts such as Wendla (Dark Spring- H. Thomalla, World Premiere), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and more. During her years in Europe, Shachar made several guest performances in leading Opera companies like Salzburg state opera, Kaiserslautern, Rococo Theater Schwetzingen and more.
Her repertoire includes- Hansel (Hansel und Gretel), Dorabella (Cosi' Fan Tutte) Cherubino ( "Le Nozze di Figaro), Donna Elvira & Zerlina (Don Giovanni) 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflöte) Siebel (Faust- Gounod) Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi- bellini) Rosina ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"- Rossini) Tisbe (La Cenerentola- Rossini) and more.
In concerts- Berlioz "Les Nuits D'été", Mahler's 4th symphony, solo Alt roles of Mozart's "Requiem", Rossini's "Petite messe solennelle", Handel's "Messiah" Bach's "Magnificat", Vivaldi's "Gloria", Durufle "Requiem", V. Williams's "Magnificat" and more.
Shachar is a recipient of the America Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships, the "Ronen" foundation for outstanding Israeli artists, IVAI Opera Workshop - Fay Harbour scholarship, Excellence scholarships and prizes at the Buchman-Mehta vocal competitions and won the 3rd prize at the "Flaviano Labó" Opera competition held in Piacenza, Italy.
Shachar had the honor of performing with some of the most leading orchestras and musicians such as- the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Tbilisi Symphony Orch., Lautten Compagney Berlin, Israeli Barrocade, under the baton of distinguished conductors such as Maestro Zubin Mehta, Daniel Ettinger, Rani Calderon, Yoav Talmi, David Shemer and more.
During the last few years Shachar took part in several prestigious Opera programs including Ravinia Stean's Music Festival- Program for singers, Tenerife Opera Estudio, Accademia Rossiniana and the Israeli Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI).
