Noam Heinz Lowenstein, Baritone, is currently beginning his first year as an ensemble member at the Meitar Opera Studio program at the Israel Opera. He is also finishing his bachelors in music at Tel Aviv University’s Buchmann Mehta School of Music, where he studied under Efrat Ben Nun.
In the 2019-2020 season, Noam performed the role of Papageno, Sprecher, and Geharnischter man in Mozarts “Die Zauberflöte” with the Buchmann Mehta Opera ensemble,Younger Brother in “Dead Man Walking” and Crete man in “Idomeneo” with the Israel Opera and Sabo in Offenbach's operetta “Die Klassische Witwe” with the Ramat Gan Cameri Orchestra. In the 2018-2019 season, Noam performed the roles of Masetto from Mozart's“Don Giovanni”, Bob from Menotti's "The Old Maid and the Thief", a number of roles from Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop, among them the Captain and the Rogue, and Gasparo in Donizetti's "Rita" with the Ramat Gan Cameri Orchestra. In the 2017-2018 season Noam performed the roles of first and second monk in the world premier of “Albert” by Moshe Zorman , Le Roi in “Cendrillon” by Massenet and Antonio in Mozarts "Le Nozze Di Figaro". in the 2016-2017 season Noam performed the roles of Le Fauteuil in “L'enfant et les sortilèges” by Ravel and Aeneas in “Dido and Aeneas” by Henry Purcell.
Noam’s concert performances have included Mozart’s “Requiem”, Faure’s “Requiem”, Schubert’s “Mass in G Major”, Haydn’s “Requiem”, Ramirez “Misa Criolla”, Aharon Harap’s “Requiem”, and Handel’s “Dixit Dominus” with Orchestras including Tel Aviv Soloists, Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
His awards include first prize in the Buchmann Mehta Vocal competition, a full scholarship from the Israel America Cultural Foundation(2016-2020), the Ronen Foundation(2016-2020), an excellence scholarship from the Tel Aviv University (2017-2019) and the Dr. Elie and Esther Foundation award for music citizenship(2016). Noam has participated in international young artists programs such as the IVAI, IMVAJ, and Music Fest Perugia.
Noam has had masterclasses with Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quasthoff, Dan Ettinger, Chen Reiss, Jennifer Larmore, and more.
Alongside his University studies, Noam served for three years in the Israel Defense Forces as an “Outstanding Musician”, this prestigious status having only been offered to a male singer three times since 2012.
My relationship to Ronen Foundation
My journey with The Ronen Foundation began when i was 17, and still a bassoonist. I performed in one of Yaffa’s beautiful concerts at the Museum of art in Tel Aviv, a memory I treasure as it was also the first time I performed and was treated as a professional.
Since then I have made many changes, first and foremost of course is that now i’m an opera singer and no longer the same timid bassoonist. Yaffa has always been there every step of the way, giving advice, simply listening to hardships when necessary, supporting me and creating wonderful opportunities. When i came to her in the first year of my military service and suggested that we hold a concert in the hamptons, she took the idea and created an amazing annual concert that ran for three years, only to be stopped (for the time being) by the coronavirus.
The amazing thing about the Ronen Foundation, as opposed to other foundations, is the personal and warm environment it creates. To belong to the Ronen Foundation is truly to be part of a new, ever growing family.
